Sparks Of The Month

Each month we celebrate excellence in its many forms at SESS. Teachers select 2 students from their class who have demonstrated excellence in a particular area. Students receive a certificate and are recognized in our monthly elementary assembly.
Sparks of the Month (January)

Ms. Beebe

Logan Lucich: for demonstrating leadership skills, by guiding and helping others whenever he sees the need.

Christin Caspersen: for the focused manner in which she consistently approaches her academic studies.

 

Mr. Eberding

Max Steele: enthusiasm to learn new concepts and thirst for knowledge.

 

Ms. Brunelle

Nate Fontaine: for his excellent athletic ability and enthusiasm in PE

Trinity Zadoronzny:  for her improved attendance and work ethic

 

Ms. Champagne

Ethan Lintick: for being a great example of preparedness and punctuality. He changes early into gym strip and shoes and demonstrates a great enthusiasm for basketball. Keep up the great work Ethan! 

Tony Page: for being brave and joining in class activities, discussions, and daily math talks! Good job Tony!

Trista Jager-Gibson:  for her cheerfulness and enthusiasm

Landen Spittal: for his computer coding skills

 

Ms. Perreault

Tia Lacasse-Whelpton: Tia has been working very hard on her math and story writing. Whenever there is extra clean up to be done Tia is quick to jump in and lend a hand.

Kingston Wallace: Kingston has leveled up in his reading this month. All his extra reading work has paid off. Way to go Kingston!

Ms. Beebe

Kesler Galics - in recognition of his talent in writing stories that invite the reader to turn the page.

Sommer Theiser - for demonstrating the ability to take risks and try new things.

Keeley Rivest - For consistently working hard to complete assignments on time.

Tobias Abraham-Wright - Tobias has been a very active and engaged learner at all times. He is a kind and thoughtful person and treats others with respect. thank you Tobias.

Ms. Beebe

Matthew Sanderson: with his keen sense for detail, is recognized for striving for thoroughness in all that he undertakes. 

Zoe Taylor: for recognized for her whimsical creativity, turning ordinary objects into useful, artistic creations.

 

Ms. Fischer

Arora Freeman-Pratt: for her stellar performance at our school Track and Field meet and for showing more confidence in the classroom by asking questions more often.

Narinder Tiwana: for being honest, hard-working and for being there for his friends when they are having a bad day.

Mantaj Khakh: for consistently doing her best on her assignments and helping her peers along the way with genuine, positive encouragement.

 

Ms. King

Weston Thomson: for his tenacity, hard work, research, and leadership on his 'Survivor BC: Escape the Biome' team.

Keaton Kempf: for the earnest spirit he brings to his learning groups, and his dedicated and successful effort to conquer increasingly difficult math concepts.

Sophie Heinecke: for consistently watering the school garden, with Aleigha Winstanley from the Ms. Perreault's class.

Eion Mathieson: for working hard at adding more details and descriptions to his writing.

Matthew Gordon: for being responsible about finishing work.

Jesse Whelpton: for being the Tower of Power in the class.

Javraj Lidhar: for having the 2nd best attendance in the class.

 

Ms. Perreault

Jackson Elliott:  has been a supportive peer to his classmates. He is always willing to help others and is very understanding. Jackson spent all of his money for other students to have a snack and didn't have one for himself. What a selfless and kind-hearted thing to do! Thank you, Jackson. 

Yudivian Baptise:  works very hard to complete all of his work and is very conscientious of his work. This behaviour crosses into his social life as well. He is very aware of and willing to work on relationships with others. He is competitive with others but only in how it helps him progress as a person. Well done, Yudivian!

Ms. Beebe

Sam Fonteyne - for his curiosity and interest in the area of botany.

Jace Williams - for innovative design in structural engineering.

 

Ms. Fischer

Sidney Joseph - Sidney has been working hard on his research and writing assignments and takes pride in his work. He always politely asks for help so that he can do his best. 

Christin CaspersonChristin continuously shows great collaboration skills by doing her part in group projects and giving her peers genuine, positive feedback on their work.

Reet Sidhu - Reet is always attentive in class. She models positive behaviour for others and completes assignments with skill and confidence.

 

Ms. King

Cody Dennis - for perseverance and willingness to push himself forward to conquer difficult things.

Madison Nielsen - for her quiet leadership style that allows her to be successful in any learning team she is in

Mya Winsor - for her willingness to share difficult things, and growth in tenacity and 'stick-to-it-ness' to overcome the challenges

Ellie Sturgeon - for doing great work on her D.Q.W. and getting her multiplication arrays finished.

Eion Mathieson - for being a good friend and working well with others in a group activity.

Roman Holmes - For persevering in times of challenge. Roman is very aware and caring towards his peers and works well in groups.

 Manya Bains - Manya has been absent for 3 months yet is actively working to catch up with her peers. She is a caring peer and is always willing to learn a new skill.

Ms. Beebe:

Abby Deschamps for enthusiastically contributing to the school community by volunteering to assist in a variety of initiatives.and projects.

Alice Neiser-Schilling for striving to complete assignments and a willingness to work with others.

Matt Sanderson - for showing grit and perseverance while snowboarding at Apex.

 

Mr. Grainger:

Karlyna Earl for most improved student in Term 2

Nixon Friesen for his Precision Bridge Building Skills

 

Ms. Fischer:

Darrius Patterson Darrius has demonstrated himself as a leader in the class for his willingness to take risks in trying new things and by making new friendships with his classmates.

Roméo Fontaine for always ambitious to complete his assignments in a timely manner. He has also been working very hard to improve his literacy skills by making time to do extra Lexia whenever possible.

 

Ms. Parreault:

Jackson Elliot Jackson has been ill yet has been able to catch up on much of his work and is also being a great community builder in the classroom by helping his peers with their schoolwork.

Ember Campeau Ember is always willing to help around the classroom. She completes her work and actively helps her classmates when needed. 

 

Ms. Champagne:

Trinity Zadorozny for taking initiative to locate and take care of classroom soccer and basketball.

Bairek Lacoste for being a great friend to another student, showing empathy and kindness.

 

Ms. King:

Rydell Klassen for pushing herself out of her comfort zone by speaking up, speaking out, sharing truth and allowing her creativity and strength to shine.

Scarlett Hupfield for persevering and pushing herself to play competitive sports, and to step into a leadership role in her roller coaster design and build team.

 

Sparks of the Month (January)

Ms. Beebe:

Anoop Grewal for his studious efforts to make up missed work.

Kai Kemph for demonstrating grit and perseverance to learn what is not easy and staying positive throughout the process.

 

Ms. Fischer:

Teyo Sahm for taking pride in being a good friend and doing well on assignments. Teyo also has a witty sense of humour that is fun to be around. 

Celeste Gagnon for consistently does her best on her assignments and takes the time to help her classmates do their best too. Celeste is also kind to everyone in the class.

 

Ms. King:

Landen Spittal for having a positive attitude when practicing his literacy skills.

Matt St. Cyr for his continuing growth in leadership on his learning and prototype building teams, and earnest desire to support others, including the adults, in our community.

 

Ms. Champagne:

Jugaad Desi for consistently working hard on developing characters and details in his short story, or rather novel, he is at 7 typed pages already!

Kaitetkwe Louis for always being a supportive friend to others in the classroom.

 

Mr. Grainger:

Hunter Pelletier for his leadership in Math class.

Jessica Eckley for her irrepressible enthusiasm.

 

Ms. Perreault:

Parker Bensen for consistently being a considerate classmate, and consistently putting awesome effort into his assignments.

Maggie Wagner for amazing attendance, caring for her friends, and completing so many units of Lexia.

 

Sparks of the Month (November/December)

Ms. Beebe:

Kirn Dulohan - is recognized for his artistic abilities and attention to detail.

Brooklyn Joe - is recognized for her willingness to learn new skills, both academically and athletically.

Leo Nelson - is recognized for his ability to think deeply and critically about social issues.

Blake Schneider - is recognized for his creative abilities in remapping the world as we know it.

 

Ms. Fischer:

Preet Gill - Preet is a delightful, positive energy in the classroom! He takes pride in being kind and contributing to class discussions.

Grace McWilliams - Grace is a great student. She always stays on top of her schoolwork and goes the extra mile by adding detail to her creative projects. 

Kai Rivest - Kai is a natural leader in the classroom. He is quick to help others and stand up for what is right.

Karson Burchett - Karson is a bright student. He is a talented writer and artist, and always has something thoughtful to add to class discussions.

 

Ms. King:

Logan Zant - Sparks award for Leadership on, and support of, classroom learning teams, volleyball, and his openness to learn leadership problem-solving.

Ullrick Goebel - Sparks award for taking on the often difficult, time-consuming, finicky detailed work in our classroom community, supporting accountability to ourselves and each other.

Logan Lucich - Sparks award for stepping up into leadership roles, in the absence of his teacher, to support both staff and peers with ongoing routines, decisions, and learning goals.  

Connor Yahnke - Sparks award for his continuing growth in leadership on both learning and sports teams, creating safe places for others to practice and acquire skills.

 

Ms. Champagne:

Avivek Saran- working diligently and progressing in ELA (he will be moving to a different reading group!

Ally Thom - Always being helpful to Ms. O. and helping her to deliver muffins to the trays in the mornings.

Sophie Heinecki- Taking the initiative and teaching other students a new cards game.  (so, I didn't have to. 🙂)

Mason Curr: For demonstrating a positive attitude in both academic and social settings.

Paige Munroe: For participating in competitive sports during physical education classes.

 

Ms. Fischer

Dilpreet Shahi: Is a keen student that often brings insightful ideas to our class discussions. She is also a great friend to several of her classmates and stand up for them when she feels they have been wronged.

Jamie Bosgra: Is a great team player. In class, he works well with many students on group projects. He is also a very reliable goalie on our boys’ soccer team!

 

Ms. King

Seth Peterson-Flood: for being an example of earnest, open determination in his quest to discover and learn

Phillippa Bertacco: for Student Leadership, and responsibility for our class and school communities

Lillian Burton: for always being helpful in the classroom
